Tennis Clawed at Home by Lions on Tuesday Afternoon, 7-2

Wolfe (No. 5 singles) and Erickson (No. 6 singles) win matches for the Raiders

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University tennis team could not overcome its early deficit after being shutout in doubles on a warm, sunny Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 7-2 non-conference matchup to the Lions of Georgian Court University from the Robb Sports Complex Tennis Courts.

Junior Hannah Wolfe earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles while sophomore Kaitlyn Erickson earned a 7-5, 3-6 (10-7) victory at No. 6 singles. Wolfe has now won two of her last three singles matches, with her only loss in that time span coming in a third-set tiebreaker.

Julia Saintz and junior Daniela Delgado each won six games in their respective singles matches but fell by 6-2, 6-4 scores. Saintz played No. 1 singles while Delgado started at No. 3 singles. Freshman Brittnee Buckley lost 6-2, 6-1 at No.2 singles.

Shippensburg will conclude its regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday with a PSAC East clash against Millersville on Senior Day at Robb Sports Complex.
