Herman Kirkland posted another NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the long jump on Friday afternoon as he represented the Shippensburg University men's track & field team at the Penn Relays held from historic Franklin Field.
Kirkland's top mark of the day was 24 feet, 3 ½ inches (7.40 meters), which led to him finish third in the championship college long jump competition. He finished behind jumpers from LSU and Monroe.
His season PR remains 24 feet, 5 ½ inches (7.45 meters), which was set at the Fred Hardy Invitational. That mark has him slotted eighth in the current Division II rankings.
Kirkland and the rest of the Raiders will compete at home tomorrow in the Paul Kaiser Classic.
