The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team was limited to one goal in the final 13 minutes of play Tuesday at PSAC rival Millersville, resulting in a 17-13 loss to the Marauders on a sunny and cool afternoon at the Biemesderfer.
Shippensburg (5-11, 3-7 PSAC) held a 5-1 lead through the first 11 minutes of play before Millersville (9-6, 4-6 PSAC) rallied for six consecutive goals to take a 7-5 advantage. SU grabbed the lead back early in the second half, 9-8 with 27:31 to play, but was not able to re-claim the lead for the remainder of the contest.
The Raiders recorded a 21-10 advantage in draw controls – with senior
Lindsey Kennedy grabbing eight and junior
Liz French recording seven.
Lindsey Kennedy finished Tuesday's game with two goals, two assists, two caused turnovers and four groundballs.
Junior
Bennett Widlake netted her third hat trick of the season to complement three groundballs, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Sophomore
Sheila Johnson provided a career-high five points, scoring twice and recording a career-high three assists. Johnson also had a draw control and a groundball.
Junior
Amanda Krok added two goals and had two groundballs, while junior
Kayla Dalzell, senior
Roxanne Brown and sophomore
Courtney Kennedy also contributed tallies in the contest.
Freshman
Ally Frymoyer made seven saves and had five groundball pickups.
Tuesday's loss eliminated the Raiders from playoff contention. SU will conclude its season Saturday at East Stroudsburg with a 1 p.m. matchup against the Warriors.
