The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team got two goals each from sophomores
Courtney Kennedy and
Sheila Johnson and a three-point effort from senior
Lindsey Kennedy but could not stave off No. 15 Mercyhurst on Friday, dropping an 11-7 decision to the Lakers on a cool and breezy afternoon at Tullio Field.
Shippensburg (4-10, 2-6 PSAC) and Mercyhurst (11-3, 6-2 PSAC) were tied 4-4 with 12:53 remaining in the first half before the Lakers closed the opening frame on a 4-1 run to lead 8-5 at intermission.
The second half was a low-scoring affair, with the Raiders netting just two goals to Mercyhurst's three. SU got within two goals of the lead at the 22-minute mark but managed just one goal the rest of the way.
Lindsey Kennedy opened the scoring for Shippensburg less than three minutes into the game and assisted on two other tallies in the first half. She was one of four Raiders with two draw controls and led the squad with three groundballs.
Courtney Kennedy scored with 1:04 left in the opening half and also tallied SU's first goal of the second half. Johnson scored her goals in a 70-second span midway through the opening half. Junior

Roxanne Brown also scored in Friday's game for the Raiders.
Freshman
Ally Frymoyer was credited with 10 saves.
SU will stay in Erie to face Gannon at 5 p.m. tomorrow.
