Stephanie Knauer each recorded double-doubles to lead five Raiders in double figures on Wednesday night as the Shippensburg University women's basketball team clinched a first round bye this Saturday and a berth in next Tuesday's PSAC Quarterfinals with a 72-62 regular season-ending victory at Millersville from Pucillo Gymnasium.
With the win, the Raiders (20-7, 16-6 PSAC East) hit the 20-win mark for the first time since the 2001-02 season and next Tues., March 5, will host the winner of this Saturday's first-round matchup between No. 3 seed Millersville (19-7, 16-6) and No. 6 seed East Stroudsburg (7-19, 6-16), also held from Pucillo.
For the second time this season against the Marauders, Shippensburg was efficient with a mass quantity of attempts from the free-throw line, shooting 20-of-25 – a clear advantage over Millersville's 12-of-24 effort from the charity stripe. SU's 10 turnovers were the second-fewest its recorded this season. The Raiders also held Millersville to a season-worst 10.5 percent-effort (2-of-19) from three-point range.
Wednesday night's game was the second time this season the Raiders have had five players score in double-digits (at California (Pa.) on Jan. 12) as the victory was Shippensburg's first at Millersville in over six years (last win: Jan. 7, 2007) and its first since rejoining the Eastern Division prior to the 2008-09 season.
Dana Wert played all 40 minutes for the first time this season and recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to go along with a team-high five assists. Knauer led SU with 17 points in addition to 10 rebounds – her 12th double-double of the season – and a clutch 8-of-8 performance from the free-throw line.

Caitlyn Deeter scored 10 on 3-of-5 shooting – including five consecutive clutch points (a three-pointer and a jumper) to finish out a crucial 8-0 Shippensburg run with just under six minutes left in the game.
The first half was a series of runs from a pair of teams battling for a much-needed day off on Saturday. With the score tied at 12-12 five minutes into the game, Millersville went off on a 10-0 run that held the Raiders scoreless for a period of 7:33.
From that point, however, Shippensburg held Millersville scoreless for nearly seven minutes while scoring nine consecutive to grab a 22-21 lead with 5:39 left. SU then extended its run to a 15-2 advantage to close the half and go into halftime ahead 27-24.
SU pushed its lead to as many as 10 points just under five minutes into the second half. Millersville would not go away, however, using a 9-2 run to cut its deficit to 48-44 at the 11:40 mark before eventually tying the game up at 50-50 with a pair of Aurielle Mosley (16 points, 10 rebounds) free throws with just under eight minutes remaining.
At that point,
Dana Wert started the aforementioned 8-0 run with a pair of free throws. The Raiders later used another 8-0 run that included six free throws and put the Raiders ahead a game-high 14 points with 3:36 left on the clock.
