Box Score

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Four players scored in double figures – including seniors Dana Wert and Shawna Wert – to push the Shippensburg University women's basketball team to an 80-62 Senior Day victory over Cheyney from Heiges Field House in Saturday afternoon's regular season home finale.

Shawna Wert led the Raiders (19-7, 15-6 PSAC) with 16 points, highlighted by a 10-of-10 effort from the free-throw line in addition to four rebounds. Dana Wert added 14 points, a team-high five rebounds and three assists. Every active player earned action while all but one of the 12 players appeared in the scoring column as the Raiders led the Wolves (1-23, 1-20) by as many as 28 points in the second half.

Freshman Stephanie Knauer added 15 points and four rebounds on 5-of-7 shooting and a 5-of-6 effort from the charity stripe. Junior Sarah Strybuc contributed 12 points, four rebounds and a game-high four assists.

Before the game, the Raiders honored seniors Dana Wert, Shawna Wert, Caitlin Bamberger, Raediah Lyles and Morgan Taylor.

Bamberger earned her first start since November when she suffered a serious knee injury. She played 14 minutes on Saturday and finished with a point, two rebounds and an assist. Lyles earned her 21st start of the season and scored four points in 11 minutes. Taylor has missed the last nine games due to injury. The five seniors have combined for 3,171 career points.

Freshman Caitlyn Deeter added seven points and four rebounds while freshman Mariah Traywick added five points and four rebounds. Sophomore Samantha Damiano scored her first career points on a pair of first-half free throws.

The Raiders close out the regular season at Millersville (19-6, 16-5) on Wednesday night with a 6 p.m. tip from the Marauders' Pucillo Gymnasium. Millersville is a game ahead of SU in the PSAC East standings, and if Bloomsburg beats East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night, the winner of SU-MU will earn an automatic bye next weekend before hosting a second round game on Tues., March 5.

If the Raiders lose to the Marauders, or if they win but Bloomsburg loses to East Stroudsburg, the Raiders will earn the No. 3 seed and host a first-round PSAC East playoff game at home next Sat., March 2 against the East No. 6 seed East Stroudsburg.
