SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Freshman
Stephanie Knauer led all players with 22 points and 14 rebounds on Saturday afternoon as the Shippensburg University women's basketball team defeated PSAC East opponent East Stroudsburg, 67-47, during the annual “Play 4 Kay” game and Alumni Day from Heiges Field House.
Knauer recorded her 10th double-double of the season on an impressive 9-of-10 shooting effort as the Raiders (17-7, 13-6 PSAC) – who led by as many as 26 points during the second half – out-rebounded the Warriors (7-16, 6-13) by a 57-40 margin and limited ESU to just 27 percent shooting (20-of-75).
Junior
Sarah Strybuc added 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range to go along with four rebounds and a career-high nine assists to lead all players.
Senior
Shawna Wert added nine assists and scored all nine of her points at the free-throw line on a 9-of-10 effort while junior
Lauren Barnett matched her career-high with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting.
Freshman
Alex Gildea matched her career high with 10 rebounds. Her first 10-rebound outing came during SU's first meeting the Warriors on Jan. 26 (a 74-55 Raider victory).
The Raiders hit the road on Wednesday night with a 6 p.m. divisional matchup against West Chester from the Golden Rams' Hollinger Field House.
