SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University men's and women's basketball teams return home on Wednesday night after their three-game road trip for a crucial PSAC Eastern Division showdown against Bloomsburg from Heiges Field House. The women are set to tip at 6 p.m. while the men will tip afterward at approximately 8 p.m.

WOMEN

•    Wednesday will mark a showdown of two of the three teams tied for first place in the PSAC East. Bloomsburg won the first matchup this season by a 70-40 margin (Jan. 16) and has won five straight against the Raiders overall, including a 3-0 mark last season.

•    SU cruised to an 81-55 victory over Mansfield on Saturday afternoon from Decker Gymnasium, extending its winning streak to seven games. Six players scored nine or more points, including a team-high 14 from junior Sarah Strybuc and 13 from freshman Stephanie Knauer. Senior Dana Wert shot 6-of-8 at the free-throw line, finishing with nine points and four assists, and was named the PSAC East Player of the Week on Monday.

•    Also on Saturday afternoon, Bloomsburg beat Cheyney, 94-55, from Nelson Fieldhouse. Dana Wieller led BU with 18 points, while Lauren Ellis and Marla Simmons each added 12 points. Alyssa Flanagan recorded eight assists.

MEN

•    The Raiders sit in last place in the PSAC East standings and need to finish the regular season in at least seventh place in order to qualify for the PSAC playoffs. They are currently one game behind Kutztown and Mansfield and two games behind the Huskies with five division games left.

•    SU won at Bloomsburg, 79-58, earlier this season (Jan. 16) and snapped a 10-game losing streak in the process.

•    Shippensburg rallied from an eight-point deficit in the second half of Saturday afternoon's game at Mansfield to tie the score on two occasions and trailed by just one point with 4:27 to play, but the host Mountaineers closed the game on a 14-7 run to earn a 74-66 victory over the Raiders from Decker Gymnasium. Sophomore Sam Pygatt scored a team-high 18 points while redshirt-freshman Tyhiem Perrin posted a career-high 16 points and on Monday was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Week.

•    Also on Saturday afternoon, Dontahe Jordan (PSAC East Player of the Week) scored his 1,000th career point and combined for 57 points with Lorenzo Christmas in Bloomsburg's 80-64 home win over Cheyney from Nelson Field House.
