SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University men's basketball team closes out the 2013 portion of its schedule on Tuesday afternoon when it travels to CACC opponent Wilmington (Del.) for a 1 p.m. contest on New Year's Eve day. In Shippensburg's last contest on Sat., Dec. 21, SU's valiant second-half comeback in the final eight minutes of regulation erased a 16-point first-half deficit but was not quite enough as the Raiders scored a season-high 80 points in an 82-80 loss to PSAC newcomer Seton Hill.
Sophomore
Joe Lococo scored a game-high 32 points while freshman
Abe Massaley contributed 13 points and a career-high eight assists. Despite the loss, the Raiders sank a season-high 27 field goals and recorded a season-high 15 assists while committing a season-low 11 turnovers.
Wilmington last played nearly two weeks ago on Wed., Dec. 18, when it won at Georgian Court, 69-54. Senior Herbert Dennis scored a team-high 19 points while junior Valentino Thompson scored 15 points and added a game-high seven assists.
After Tuesday's contest, the Raiders will resume PSAC play with a home crossover this weekend against California (Pa.) (3 p.m. Friday) and Slippery Rock (3 p.m. Saturday) from Heiges Field House.
