The 36-point effort is the most for a Raider in nearly four years as Lauren Beckley scored 38 against Kutztown on Feb. 20, 2010.
The Raiders trailed UPJ (3-6) 44-41 at the intermission after shooting just 31 percent in the first half while the home-standing Lady Cats shot 55 percent from the floor.
Coming out of the break, SU held UPJ scoreless for nearly five minutes while scoring the first 12 points of the frame – leading 53-44 at the 15:43 mark. With 9:51 to play, the Raiders had built their lead to 69-49.
Sophomore guard
Caitlyn Deeter scored 10 points during the second-half run and finished with multiple career highs – including 18 points and five steals. Deeter was also 10-of-12 at the free-throw line; her previous single-game best at the charity stripe was five earlier this season.
Shippensburg entered Tuesday's game leading the conference in both made free throws and attempts and maintained that pace, finishing the contest 37-of-43 (86 percent) at the charity stripe. Strybuc and Deeter combined to make 22-of-25 at the free-throw line, while sophomore
Stephanie Knauer and freshman
Logan Snyder each went 4-of-4 at the line.
Snyder was forced into extra duty Tuesday night and made the most of her 24 minutes on the floor, totaling six points, a career-high six rebounds, and two assists. Knauer had 16 points and nine rebounds despite being limited by foul trouble.
Shippensburg completes its mid-week crossover Wednesday night with a 5:30 p.m. clash against IUP. Both teams are receiving votes in the USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll.
Notes: After scoring 69 points in her last two games, Strybuc enters Wednesday's game just 10 points shy of 1,000 for her career…Deeter's previous career high in points was 12, set last season at Kutztown…head coach
Kristy Trn '93/'94M is now just two wins shy of 250 for her career.
