Senior defensive end Jake Metz was named to the AFCA Division II Coaches' All-America Team announced today by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), becoming just the fifth player in school history and first since 2009 to receive the honor.

The last Red Raider to earn the honor was wide receiver Mike Harris, who was preceded by defensive back Brent Grimes in 2005, running back John Kuhn in 2004 and defensive lineman Chad Oberholzer in 2001.

Metz is one of four PSAC players on the team, joined by Bloomsburg senior running back Franklyn Quiteh, West Chester senior return specialist Rondell White and Mercyhurst senior kicker Steve Wakefield.

Chosen by the nation's head coaches every season since 1945, the AFCA All-America team is the only postseason team selected exclusively by the head coaches.

Metz totaled 11.0 sacks – a half-sack short of tying his single-season school record – in addition to 18.0 tackles for loss. He ranks seventh in the nation in sacks per game with 1.0 as his 99 yards lost on sacks and 113 yards lost on tackles each rank second in the country.

The 2013 Daktronics Super Region 1 Defensive Player of the Year, Metz finished his career with school records in sacks (30.5) and tackles for loss (55.0) and has been selected four times to All-America teams.
