All five of the Shippensburg University men's cross country team's scoring runners finished among the Top-30 on Saturday afternoon as the Raiders earned a berth to the NCAA Championships with a third-place finish at the Atlantic Region Championships from Lock Haven's West Branch Course.
Shippensburg's 83 team points were 56 more than fourth-place finisher IUP (139) as three of SU's scoring runners earned PRs, led by junior
Brayden Burleigh who finished third in 30:23.5.
Sophomore
Nick Libbi placed 14th with a personal-best time of 31:16.9 while sophomore
Austin McGinley finished four spots later in 31:30.9.
Junior
Bernard England broke his PR with a time of 31:41.5 that placed him 21st. SU's fifth scoring runner was freshman
Kieran Sutton, who finished 27th in a time of 32:03.7 in his first career 10K.
Burleigh, Libbi, McGinley and England each earned All-Region honors while Sutton finished two spots shy of the honor (Top-25).
Shippensburg's two non-scoring runners also managed to place among the Top-50 as freshman
Harrison Schettler finished 40th in his first career 10K in 32:27.2 while junior
Peter Gelston recorded a PR of 32:38.4 in a 46th-place finish.
Lock Haven took the regional title with 44 points, led by senior Alex Monroe who won the individual race for the third consecutive year with a course-record time of 29:31.3. Edinboro also qualified for nationals with a second-place team finish of 63 points.
The Raiders will compete in the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2011. Nationals will be held November 23 in Spokane, Washington.
