SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University football team travels to PSAC Eastern Division opponent Cheyney on Saturday afternoon for a noon contest against the Wolves from O'Shields-Stevenson Stadium.

The Red Raiders (6-3, 5-1 PSAC East) are tied with No. 16 Bloomsburg – which SU dealt its first loss in a 34-18 road upset last Thursday night on national television – for second in the divisional standings, a game behind first-place, undefeated and No. 10-ranked West Chester.

The Raiders are mathematically eliminated from winning the division and playing in the PSAC State Game, however, by virtue of the tiebreaker involving records against the PSAC West this season (SU is 1-1).

A Cheyney (0-11, 0-8) student radio broadcast of the game will be available online at redzonemedia here.

Shippensburg has played the 18th-toughest schedule in Division II and second-toughest in the PSAC this season as its opponents are a combined 42-29. The Raiders have suffered three losses to current Top-20 teams, including two in the Top-10. SU has played a total of four ranked teams this season.

Thanks in part to its difficult schedule and its defeat of the then-No. 5 Huskies last week, Shippensburg appeared in the Super Region 1 rankings this week, debuting at No. 8. The top six ranked teams in the region make the NCAA playoffs, with the top two seeds earning byes for the first round.

Game Background

• Powered by an air attack led by senior quarterback Zach Zulli last Thursday night, Shippensburg stunned previously unbeaten and No. 5-ranked Bloomsburg, 34-18, in a nationally-televised PSAC East road battle on Halloween from BU's Danny Hale Field at Robert B. Redman Stadium.

• The Red Raider defense held the Huskies, the nation's fifth-leading rushing team, to just 106 yards on the ground as SU won its third-straight contest vs. the Huskies over the last two seasons – the program's first three-game winning streak vs. BU in nearly 20 years. In fact, Bloomsburg's only three losses over the past two seasons (a span of 21 games) have all come at the hands of SU.

• Bloomsburg was held scoreless in the first half for the first time in nearly three years while Shippensburg out-gained BU by a 549-258 margin in total offense, thanks mainly to Zulli's season-high 466 passing yards, the fifth-best single-game total in school history. Zulli threw five touchdowns to his go-to junior wide receivers: Trevor Harman (three scores) and Sheldon Mayer (two).

• Mayer had a career night with 244 receiving yards, the second-most in a single-game in school history. He hauled in six passes (a 40.1-yard average) as his scores went for 84 yards and 75 yards, each on wide-open passes down the middle of the field.

• Harman hauled in 12 passes for 134 yards to continue his school-record eight-game 100-yard receiving streak. Harman set the school career receptions record as his 203 grabs make him the first player in school history and 12th player in PSAC history with 200 or more career catches.

• Harman also went over 3,000 career receiving yards, becoming the third player in school history and the 15th in PSAC history to hit 3,000. His 3,053 yards are now second in school history. Harman is also tied for fourth in PSAC history with 45 career touchdown receptions, as Thursday night marked his sixth career game with at least three touchdown grabs.

• On Saturday afternoon, Wolves redshirt-senior Javier Garcia dominated from his linebacker position but it wasn't enough as Cheyney fell 66-14 at home to division leader West Chester. Garcia ended the day with 15 tackles, three tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one pass deflected. Fleming also recorded a solid performance, registering 11 tackles with two for loss.

Series History: Red Raiders vs. Cheyney

• Shippensburg holds a 14-0 lead in the all-time series with Cheyney. Since moving into the PSAC Eastern Division in 2008, SU has won all five meetings by a combined 263-46 margin.

• Until 2011, the Red Raiders had not allowed more than 13 points to Cheyney in history. The most lopsided margin of victory was a 68-0 victory in 1954 under legendary SU coach Vinton Rambo. SU has shut out the Wolves three times - with 2010's 50-0 victory being the last time Shippensburg has recorded a shutout of Cheyney.

• SU is 6-0 on the road against Cheyney, including a 59-20 win over the host Wolves in 2010.
