SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 5-seeded Shippensburg University men's soccer team travels to No. 4 seed West Chester on Tuesday afternoon for a 1 p.m. PSAC Quarterfinal battle against the No. 20 Golden Rams from WCU's Rockwell Field.

The winner between the Raiders (9-6-2, 6-4-1 PSAC) and West Chester (12-3-2, 9-1-1) earns the right to travel to No. 1-seed Mercyhurst on Friday for an 11 a.m. match against the Lakers in the PSAC Semifinals.

SU had spent its Monday preparing to play at then-No. 4 seed Slippery Rock, but on Monday evening the conference seedings abruptly changed. An NCAA violation committed by West Chester forced the Golden Rams to forfeit their final two conference games (both victories), dropping them to the fourth seed with 22 conference points. The Rock moved up to the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye with 25 points.

West Chester is currently riding an 11-game winning streak (including the two forfeited games) that began with its victory over the Raiders. WCU's only conference loss came at Mercyhurst, 3-1, on Sept. 13 in the third game of the season.

Shippensburg suffered an overtime defeat at West Chester on Oct. 8 in which the Golden Rams converted a corner kick in the 94th minute into a golden goal for a 1-0 victory. The Raiders immediately won five straight PSAC games after that contest and finished the season going 5-1-1 in conference play to qualify for the tournament.

The Raiders have qualified for the PSAC Tournament this season for the first time since they won it all in 2010 as the top seed. This marks the third PSAC Tournament appearance for SU in the last 18 years.

Shippensburg tied West Chester 1-1 at home last season and last defeated the Golden Rams 3-1 at home on Oct. 22, 2011.
