SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior wide receiver Trevor Harman capped off a record-setting 2013 season while 10 Red Raider seniors wrapped up their careers on Saturday afternoon as the Shippensburg University football team dropped a 42-21 battle to IUP on Senior Day from SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium.

The Raiders (7-4) were within six points of the Crimson Hawks (9-2) midway through the fourth quarter thanks to a 13-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback Zach Zulli toward the end of the third quarter that closed the deficit to 27-21.

IUP clinched the game in the final frame, however, with a dominant rushing attack while its defense forced a punt, a turnover on downs and two turnovers on SU's four fourth-quarter possessions.

In a ceremony before the game, SU honored its senior class of Zulli, Jason Brady, Avery Coleman, Mike Goode, Dainen Green, Kyle Karpinski, Tyriq Kershaw, Jake Metz, Drew Newcomer and Nate Schmidt.

Zulli passed for 296 yards on 30-of-52 passing. His two touchdowns to Harman give him 123 in his storied career and put him in sole possession of third place in Division II history.

Harman tied a school record with his 15th career 100-yard receiving game as the junior totaled 153 yards and two touchdowns on 12 catches – making him the first player in school history with a 100-catch season. His 105 grabs in 2013 are second-most in a single season in PSAC history. Harman finishes his junior season with 223 career catches, good for seventh all-time in PSAC history.

His 1,421 receiving yards this season set a new single-season school record and rank seventh-most in a season in PSAC history. His two touchdowns gave him 22 on the year, tying for second all-time in PSAC single-season history and falling one short of tying the record. Harman's 50 receiving touchdowns tie him for second-most all-time in PSAC history.

Harman will need 40 catches, 1,414 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior next season to set the all-time PSAC records in each statistic.

Junior running back Blair Brooks ran for 82 yards on 16 carries while hauling in a career-high eight catches for 55 yards. With 902 yards, Brooks finishes his junior season just 92 yards shy of a 1,000-yard campaign.

Injuries depleted SU's secondary but the team got the most out of its two active cornerbacks. Sophomore Jared Adams made his first career start and posted a career-high nine tackles and intercepted his first career pass, bringing it back 40 yards in the second quarter. Coleman led all players with 10 tackles and recovered a forced fumble by junior linebacker James Brennan on IUP's opening possession of the second half.

NOTES: Saturday's loss was just the third at home for SU since the start of the 2011 season (14-3 in 17 home games the last three years)…head coach Mark 'Mac' Maciejewski's '92/'96M 25 wins in his first three seasons are the most by any head coach in his first three seasons in school history...more information and notes to come early next week.
