SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's swimming team resumed its dual meet schedule Friday night inside Heiges Field House and picked up a pair of victories inside Donald N. Miller Pool, defeating conference rival California (Pa.) 110-88 and Mountain East school Fairmont State 139-48.

Shippensburg won nine of the 11 events on Friday night, while sophomores Rikki Sargent and Carolyn Meier and senior Julie Brown were multi-event winners.

Sargent won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:14.62, finishing less than a second ahead of freshman teammate Rebecca Burke, and also posted the top time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.90).

Meier set the tone early in the meet with a 200-yard freestyle time of 1:56.68 – posting a convincing two-second victory – before winning the 100-yard freestyle in 53.76 seconds.

Brown won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.32 seconds and came back to win the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.18. Burke took third in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.47.

SU went 1-2-3 in the 100-yard backstroke. Junior Jess Trgovic touched the wall first in 1:03.06, while senior Colleen Stiles was just two-tenths of a second behind. Junior Devon Perugini swam in the second heat but posted the third-fastest time, finishing in 1:04.33.

Trgovic, Sargent, Brown and Meier opened the night with a first-place time of 4:04.10 in the 400-yard medley relay. SU bookended the evening with a 400-yard freestyle relay win after the quartet of junior Tara Yohe, freshman Abbey O'Neal, freshman Jillian Stevens and junior Jen Flinchbaugh posted a time of 3:48.22.

Shippensburg will host IUP at 1 p.m. Saturday.
