The Shippensburg University men's soccer team fell at non-conference opponent Cedarville, 4-1 on Saturday afternoon from the Yellow Jacket Soccer Complex.
The Yellow Jackets (7-1-2, 3-0) opened up the scoring in the third minute of the match when Connor Gilmour headed in a pass off a corner kick from Jared Newman. The Raiders (4-4-1, PSAC 1-2) were able to keep the game close at half when they trailed 1-0, but were unable to gain ground in the second half, surrendering three goals while netting one.
The lone Raider goal was scored on a penalty kick from redshirt-junior
Derrick Roy at 82:33. It was his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Gilmour notched his second goal for the Yellow Jackets at 48:21, capitalizing on a corner kick from Todd McKinley. He completed the hat trick on a penalty kick at 85:57.
Cedarville finished with a 15-4 advantage in shots. SU managed just four corners and two shots on goal. The Raiders' four shots were the fewest they have had in a game this season.
The Raiders will travel to West Chester on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. to face the Golden Rams .
