The Shippensburg University men's soccer team had its five-match winning streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon as the Raiders dropped a 2-1 decision at California (Pa.) in a PSAC contest at the Phillipsburg Complex.
Shippensburg (9-6-1, 6-4 PSAC) got a late goal in the 88th minute from junior
James Connor after senior goalkeeper
Clay Sale centered an entry off a free kick, but California (7-9-1, 4-5-1) used tallies in the 26th and 67th minutes to ultimately record the victory.
Each team recorded 12 shots in the contest. Sale was credited with four saves, while Cal keeper Alex Heston made eight.
The Raiders have one match remaining, a Saturday afternoon showdown with Slippery Rock. A victory over The Rock would secure a home game and either the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in next Tuesday's PSAC Quarterfinals. A loss would result in a road trip to either Millersville or Slippery Rock as the No. 5 seed.
Saturday's first whistle sounds at 1 p.m. from David See Field.
