Brown’s Golden Goal Lifts Women’s Soccer to 1-0 OT Win at Bloomsburg

Raiders record seventh shutout and sixth 1-0 win this season

Freshman Jenna Brown tallied a golden goal in the 96th minute to give the Shippensburg University women's soccer team a 1-0 overtime win over Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon from Sports Stadium.

Brown finished low and to the right for the game-winner off an assist from sophomore Caitlin Sheehan. The scoring play produced both Brown's and Sheehan's first collegiate points.

Shippensburg (9-4, 8-4 PSAC) has now recorded six 1-0 victories on the year and eight one-goal victories. The Raiders are undefeated in overtime games (5-0) and have seven shutout wins this season.

Bloomsburg (6-9, 4-9) held a 10-9 edge in shots, including a 6-0 margin in the first half. The two teams finished equal in corner kicks with two apiece.

Senior goalkeeper Shelbie Rackley surrendered no goals and recorded four saves, including one in the 94th minute that prevented SU from suffering its first OT loss of the year.

Shippensburg will play UPJ on Friday at 3:30 p.m. from the friendly confines of David See Field.
