Three first-half goals were all the top-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team needed to stay undefeated on Tuesday night in an under-the-lights 3-1 road victory at Kutztown.
A 25-9 advantage in shots helped propel the Raiders to 13-0 on the season and 6-0 in PSAC play with four regular season games remaining.
Senior
Bre White opened up the scoring 10 minutes in with a penalty stroke before junior
Ari Saytar scored the second Raider goal six minutes later on a rebound off a shot by senior
Brittany Jett.
Kutztown (5-6, 2-3 PSAC) cut its deficit in half later in the period, but senior
Lauren Taylor pushed the SU lead back to 3-1 with an unassisted goal just a minute-and-a-half later. The goal is Taylor's 10th of the season, tied for the team lead with White.
Senior goalkeeper
Carenna Neely – the reigning PSAC Player of the Week – made five saves in the cage. Senior
Katie Shoop took a game-high seven shots while Jett added five.
The Raiders return home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. Senior Day matchup against Mercyhurst from Robb Sports Complex. Before the game, SU will honor its nine seniors: White, Taylor, Neely, Shoop,
