SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team scored two goals in each half Saturday night to post a convincing 4-0 victory over long-time PSAC rival East Stroudsburg at David See Field.
Shippensburg (5-5-1, 2-3 PSAC) got a goal in the 18th minute from redshirt-junior
Derrick Roy and never looked back. Roy headed home his team-leading sixth goal of the season off a splendid entry feed from senior
Patrick Urmson that marked just the second first-half goal in six home games this season for the Raiders.
With less than five minutes before the intermission, senior
Oli Templeton sent a free kick toward the cage that trickled through traffic and wound up in the back of the net, giving SU a 2-0 halftime lead.
In the 64th minute, sophomore
Derek Adams slammed home a cross from senior
Logan Kuhn that put SU up 3-0. With just six seconds remaining, senior
Alex Prosser – playing in his 36th collegiate contest – scored his first career goal by chipping a ball into the cage after a setup from senior
Casey Bellamy.
Senior
Clay Sale made six saves for his second shutout of the season and the seventh solo shutout of his career.
East Stroudsburg (1-8-2, 0-5) did not manage a corner kick in the match. Callum Hampson made three saves for the Warriors.
SU will host Lock Haven at 5 p.m. Wednesday from David See Field. The two teams will enter the match tied in the standings and each in pursuit of playoff positions.
