SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – A deep three-point attempt from the top of the key by sophomore Reggie Charles bounced off the back of the rim as the buzzer sounded on Wednesday night as the Shippensburg University men's basketball team let a nine-point second-half lead evaporate and was unable to knock off Millersville in a 63-62 loss from Heiges Field House.

Junior Dylan Edgar shot 5-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line to finish with 17 points and seven rebounds. Redshirt-freshman Tyhiem Perrin matched his career high with 12 points to go along with six boards while freshman Tony Ellis added 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting and a team-high eight rebounds.

Sophomore Sam Pygatt played a career-high 37 minutes and scored eight points while Charles added eight points and a game-high five assists.

The two teams battled early, and with the Raiders (4-14, 2-12 PSAC) down 10-9 just under six minutes into the game, used an 8-0 run to open up a 17-10 lead midway through the half. Shippensburg maintained the cushion for the remainder of the period and entered halftime up 32-25.

The Raiders led by nine early in the second half and eventually held a 52-45 lead just past the midway point of the half. Millersville (14-6, 10-4) then went on a 12-2 run that put the Marauders up 57-54 – a lead they would not relinquish. A layup from Millersville's Elijah Obade (11 points, 12 rebounds) pushed the lead to 61-56 with 5:41 remaining.

A layup from sophomore Akil Anderson and an Edgar free throw cut the SU deficit to 61-59 before Millersville's Anthony Coleman drained a three-pointer with Perrin guarding him with 1:31 remaining that pushed the margin back to four. Perrin then immediately answered with a three of his own 15 seconds later to make the score 63-62 in MU's favor.

Shippensburg held Millersville scoreless on the next two possessions, with the latter resulting in a missed jumper from Larry Grant (game-high 28 points) that Perrin pulled down with nine seconds left. Shippensburg called timeout with 4.2 seconds on the clock, setting up Charles's game-winning attempt in the final possession.

The Raiders hit the road on Saturday for a 3 p.m. matchup at Cheyney.
