Rackley records career-high 15 saves in defeat

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team opened PSAC play Wednesday afternoon with a 2-0 loss at Kutztown. Junior Shelbie Rackley recorded a career-high 15 saves in the defeat.

Shippensburg (1-1-1) entered the game ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Rankings but managed just two shots on goal in the contest – one each by senior Katie Leverentz and sophomore Brooke Clippinger.

Kutztown (2-1) controlled the tempo of the match and recorded 27 total shots. The Golden Bears received goals from Crystal Zerbe and Janine Valerio.

For Rackley, it was the most saves she had recorded in a match since making 13 saves last year at Kutztown.

Shippensburg will host Edinboro at 10 a.m. Saturday from David See Field.
