LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shippensburg University totaled 128 PSAC scholar-athletes for the 2011-12 academic year according to data distributed Tuesday by the conference office. SU's total – which includes 79 women and 49 men – is the third-highest in school history.

Twenty-eight percent of the Raider student-athletes were deemed scholar-athletes – matching last year's rate. It equals SU's second-highest percentage since data was first compiled in 1994.

According to the conference office, 35 percent of the student-athletes (2,176) competing in the PSAC were deemed scholar-athletes. Both the percentage and the total amount of scholar-athletes mark new conference records.

The SU women's cross country/track & field team boasted 23 scholar-athletes to lead all Raider sports, while men's cross country/track & field (16), field hockey (14) and women's soccer (13) also featured double-digit totals. Each SU intercollegiate athletic team boasts a PSAC scholar-athlete.

A PSAC Scholar Athlete has maintained a 3.25 cumulative grade point average while competing in an intercollegiate varsity sport.
