WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team tallied 10 goals against No. 9-ranked West Chester on Friday afternoon – its highest total against the Golden Rams in almost six years – but it was not enough as the home-standing WCU squad came away with a 19-10 victory from Vonnie Gros Field.

Shippensburg (6-4, 2-3 PSAC) played to within a two-goal margin of the Golden Rams after the first 13-plus minutes of play in Friday's contest before West Chester connected for seven of the final nine tallies before the intermission. SU was limited to just five shots in the first half but all of those chances resulted in goals.

Junior Lindsey Kennedy notched her fourth hat trick of the season while senior Lauren Hauck finished with two goals and four assists. Hauck – who leads the team with 18 assists this season – has already established a new career high for the category and her production already ranks sixth in SU single-season history.

Sophomore Kayla Dalzell scored twice and has now contributed multiple goals in six of the last eight games. Sophomore Bennett Widlake, freshman Courtney Kennedy and freshman Garrie Grenfell also scored for the Raiders.

Junior Sarah Chrencik collected an impressive five draw controls in Friday's game. SU lost the draw control battle by just five to the Golden Rams – 18-13.

Despite allowing 19 goals, senior Ali Cross was steady in front of the cage in making a career-high 14 saves. Cross has recorded 10 or more saves in four of the last five games.

West Chester (8-1, 6-1 PSAC) committed just 13 turnovers in the game and got five goals each from Lauren Glassey and Jacki Patterson. Jamie Dolan and Tori Dugan both had impressive stat lines – Dolan finished with three goals, two assists and an overwhelming eight draw controls while Dugan had three goals, four assists and seven draw controls in addition to two caused turnovers and three groundball pickups.

Shippensburg returns to action at 4 p.m. Wednesday with an all-important PSAC clash from Bloomsburg.
