Cody Myers and
Kenny Stank of the Shippensburg University wrestling team finished up their seasons after each lost two Friday matches at the 2012 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships from Colorado State University – Pueblo.
In Session One, Myers dropped a 10-4 decision at 133 pounds to Limestone junior Michael Magaha, a three-time NCAA qualifier who has won back-to-back Super Region II championships.
The 149-pound Stank dropped an 8-5 decision to Grand Canyon junior Bobby Ward, who was a NCAA qualifier at the Division I level with N.C. State two seasons ago. Ward was the Super Region IV champion and ranked No. 2 in the country entering the bout.
In their consolation matches during Session Two, Myers lost by injury default to Jesse Hillhouse, who won 32 bouts for Colorado State – Pueblo this season. Stank then dropped a 3-0 decision to St. Cloud State's Jacob Horn.
Myers finished the season with a 19-8 record after starting the year with 16 wins in 18 matches. Stank wound up with a 16-13 overall record – including a 10-6 mark at 149 pounds.
