GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team opened its 2012 season on the road against a tough Seton Hill squad and could not get going offensively, dropping a 14-5 decision to the Griffins.
Shippensburg (0-1) had goals from five different players in the contest. Junior
Roxanne Brown scored the lone Raider goal in the first half. Sophomore
Bennett Widlake picked up a goal just 62 seconds into the second half, while sophomore
Amanda Krok, sophomore
Kayla Dalzell and senior
Ali Cross added tallies in the final frame.
Seton Hill (3-0), fresh off an 11-4 win over Millersville just four days ago, raced out to an 8-1 halftime lead in Wednesday's contest and never looked back. The Griffins got four goals each from Morgan Cain and Emily Fagan. Cain scored five goals against the Raiders in last year's triple-overtime match at Robb Sports Complex.
SU returns to action in eight days with a 4 p.m. matchup at Newberry in South Carolina.
