BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University women's basketball team makes its return to the PSAC tournament for the first time since the 2007-08 season Tuesday night with a 5:30 p.m. clash with the Huskies of Bloomsburg University. It is a matchup of the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds in the PSAC Eastern Division.
Shippensburg has a storied PSAC history, having won six consecutive conference championships from 1996-2001. SU's six titles are more than any other league school. Bloomsburg has won just one PSAC title, and did so all the way back in 1992.
Tuesday's matchup is the first time that the two teams have met in the PSAC tournament since 2000, when SU won an 85-62 decision en route to its fifth straight league crown. The teams also met in 1995, with SU winning that game 95-87.
SU's last PSAC tournament game was a 55-48 loss at IUP, a team that was also 24-4 at the time. The teams combined for just eight three-pointers and did not shoot above 38 percent. SU was tied with IUP, 34-34, with 13:27 to play in that game.
