SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – For the third time in the last five games, sophomore Sarah Strybuc recorded a 20-point scoring effort in leading the Shippensburg University women's basketball team to a 60-54 victory over Millersville, 60-54, from Heiges Field House on Wednesday night.

The victory was the Raiders' (14-11, 11-10 PSAC) first over a PSAC East team with a winning record this season, as Millersville (16-9, 13-8 PSAC) will be the No. 3 seed in the PSAC East for the upcoming conference playoffs. The win also snapped a seven-game losing streak to Millersville, as it was the first over the Marauders since a 72-61 home victory on Jan. 6, 2008.

Strybuc finished with exactly 20 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. She also added five rebounds and a team-high three assists. Over the last five contests, Strybuc is averaging 17.6 points per game.

Junior Shawna Wert poured in 15 points, highlighted by an 11-of-13 performance from the free throw line. The junior is now just 36 points shy of 1,000 for her career, with at least two games remaining this season.

Senior Monae Baker added 11 points and eight rebounds, while junior Caitlin Bamberger contributed four points and eight boards. Junior Dana Wert scored six points and pulled in four rebounds.

After facing a quick 8-0 deficit early, Shippensburg fought back to grab a 15-13 lead with 12:52 left in the first half. SU would extend the lead to 21-16 with a Strybuc three-pointer, but Millersville went off on a 12-1 run to grab a 28-22 lead with 4:14 remaining in the half.

Down 32-30, Strybuc grabbed a Millersville missed shot right before the buzzer and was fouled just before the game clock sounded. It was Millersville's 10th team foul of the half, and Strybuc sank both free throws to tie the game at 32 heading into the locker room.

Neither team could create a substantial cushion in the beginning of the second half. Finally, with 8:34 left, the Raiders went on a 7-0 run to grab a six-point, 50-44 advantage.

The Marauders quickly got back to within one, down 52-51, with just 3:45 remaining. Shawna Wert and Baker each sank two free throws on SU's next two possessions and the Raiders forced Millersville into seven misses from beyond the three-point arc in the final 3:11.

Shippensburg will wrap up its regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 1 p.m. tip against Kutztown from Heiges Field House. Before the game, the team will honor its seniors: Baker, Lindsay Howard and Erin Varley.

Next Tuesday night, Feb. 28, the No. 4-seed Raiders will travel to Bloomsburg for a PSAC Quarterfinal matchup. The official start time is still to be determined.
