SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team led by as many as 11 points over No. 8 Gannon in the first half on Wednesday night but the visiting Golden Knights fought back and dealt the Raiders a 73-61 defeat in the second of two mid-week PSAC crossover games from Heiges Field House.

Stephanie Knauer recorded her fifth consecutive double-double and finished the game with game-highs of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman
Mariah Traywick scored a career-high 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
Senior
Shawna Wert added 12 points and five assists while senior
Dana Wert contributed 10 points and a team-high six assists.
The Raiders (7-3, 3-2 PSAC) jumped out to an early first-half lead, opening up a 13-3 lead three minutes into the game. SU led by as many as 11, up 21-10, by the 12-minute mark of the half before Gannon (10-1, 5-0) came roaring back. A 14-2 run gave GU its first lead of the game at 24-23 before eventually getting out in front by as many as 10, 40-30, with two minutes left before halftime.
Gannon kept its foot on the pedal in the second half, increasing its lead to as many as 17 points. The Golden Knights finished the game shooting 11-of-23 (48 percent) from three-point range (including 7-of-13 in the first half alone) and 24-of-49 (49 percent) overall.
Shippensburg returns to action in 2013 with a pair of home PSAC crossover games on the weekend of Jan. 4-5. SU will play Edinboro at 5:30 p.m. on Friday before facing off against Slippery Rock at the same time the next day.
