Bre White earned Division II field hockey's top honor on Monday, as the talented forward was named the 2012 Longstreth/NFHCA Player of the Year.
White, a Hummelstown native and Lower Dauphin High School graduate, has thrived for the Raiders over the course of three seasons and was exceptional once again in 2012.
She is the second SU player in three years to be named the NFHCA Division II Field Hockey Player of the Year, joining
Kristina Taylor in 2010.
The 2012 PSAC West Player of the Year and NFHCA South Region Player of the Year led the Raiders with both 17 goals and nine assists for 43 points this season, as her 2.15 points-per-game average ranked eighth in Division II.
One of six players to start every game for the Raiders in 2012, White recorded multiple points in all but six of the team's 18 regular season games before helping the Raiders advance to the NCAA semifinals, where she was named to the 2012 All-Tournament Team.
White has been named to the All-PSAC West First Team unit and to the NFHCA First Team All-American squad in all three of her collegiate seasons. She has already totaled 52 goals (sixth-most all-time at SU) and 34 assists.
