Men’s Basketball Suffers 71-60 Defeat at Hands of Salem International in Wolf’s Bus Lines Classic Finale

Perrin posts 12 points and 11 rebounds for first career double-double; Lococo leads all scorers with 16 points

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team was unable to hold onto a halftime double-digit lead on Saturday night as the Raiders fell to Salem International, 71-60, in the final game of the Wolf's Bus Lines Classic from Heiges Field House.

Three freshmen led Shippensburg in scoring as Joe Lococo scored 16 points to lead all players while Jay Hardy scored 14 and Tyhiem Perrin dropped 12 points in addition to 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.

Sophomore Akil Anderson fell one rebound short of a double-double himself and finished with 10 points. For his efforts over the weekend, Anderson was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Raiders (2-1) jumped out to an early 17-2 lead six-and-a-half minutes into the contest and eventually held margins of 24-6 and 28-8 with under seven minutes left in the half. SU entered the half up 35-23 before Salem International (3-2) began to chisel away at the lead in the second half.

Down 42-31 four minutes into the half, the Tigers began to take over the game, going on a 16-3 run to take their first lead of the contest at 47-45. It was all Salem from that point out as it quickly stretched the lead up to 11 (58-47) with 8:33 left. The Raiders got no closer than five points the rest of the half as Salem finished the period out-scoring Shippensburg by 23 points.
