Sophomore Lucinda Kauffman and junior
Bre White each had a goal and an assist on Wednesday afternoon as the Shippensburg University field hockey team erupted for four second-half goals in a 5-0 shutout victory at PSAC West foe Seton Hill.
The Raiders (12-1, 4-1 PSAC West) took 19 shots, including 14 on goal, to the Griffins' (5-7, 1-4) two shots. After scoreless play for the first 27 minutes, Kauffman ended the drought with her second goal of the season off an assist from White.
Seven minutes into the second half, Shippensburg scored twice within 45 seconds, with unassisted goals from White (her 13th of the season) and senior
Sam Langone (her fourth).
With less than five minutes remaining,
Ari Saytar continued her impressive sophomore season with a goal off an assist from senior
Kayla Harshman during a penalty corner. The Raiders scored on another penalty corner at the end of regulation, with junior
Taylor Bender scoring her seventh goal of the season on an assist from Kauffman.
Junior
Carenna Neely earned the start in goal and made two saves in 55 minutes of action before freshman
Taylor Webster completed the team shutout in relief.
Shippensburg travels to Slippery Rock on Saturday for a 1 p.m. PSAC West contest.
