SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team finished its regular season on Saturday evening from David See Field with a 2-1 loss to California (Pa.) in which all three goals were scored in the final 12 minutes of regulation. The Raiders finish the regular season with a 6-9-3 record and a 4-8-2 PSAC mark.
With the victory, the Vulcans (14-3-1, 11-2-1) – who are currently ranked second in the latest NCAA Division II Atlantic regional rankings – clinch the top seed in the upcoming PSAC playoffs.
With the game scoreless through 78 minutes, California's Haley Henderson moved up the field and set in a shot past Shippensburg junior goalkeeper
Shelbie Rackley – who dove and got a hand on the ball before it rolled into the back right of the net for a 1-0 Cal lead.
Sophomore
Kate Zech tied it up just five minutes later with her fourth goal of the season as she sent in a shot over Cal goalkeeper Ashley Magruda, who had fallen down in a scrum in front of the net.
Just over a minute later, however, Henderson made her second goal of the night the game-winner when she collected a missed shot, made an adjustment and sent in a shot past a diving Rackley into the back right of the goal.
Rackley made seven saves while four different Raiders each recorded one shot.
