Box Score

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team was credited with 26 shots in its Thursday afternoon road match against Chestnut Hill but could not get one past goalkeeper Jessica Veazey, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Griffins from Plymouth-Whitemarsh Victory Field #1 in Lafayette Hill.

Shippensburg (6-8-3) and Chestnut Hill (8-10) played to a scoreless first half before the Griffins scored twice in an eight-minute span of the second half, first in the 59th minute and again during the 67th minute of play.

The final tally was the result of a long feed in the final minute that resulted in a breakaway.

Junior Shelbie Rackley made eight saves, including six in the first half. Junior Ashley Vellucci had five shots on goal, while senior Rhonda Runion had four.

SU also had a 5-3 margin in corner kicks.

Shippensburg concludes its regular season at 5:30 p.m. Saturday when it takes on California (Pa.) from David See Field.

Note: Lafayette Hill, the site of Thursday's match with Chestnut Hill, is the hometown of See – captain of the Red Raiders' 1971 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship team. See died in an auto accident the summer following his graduation in 1972.
