Box Score

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team tied the game late with a goal by sophomore Kate Zech in the 89th minute on Tuesday afternoon, but Mercyhurst's Lauren Testa netted the golden goal seven minutes into overtime to hand the Raiders a 2-1 loss in their PSAC road finale.

SU (6-6-3, 4-6-2 PSAC) and the Lakers (6-8-1, 2-8-1) combined for just nine shots in a scoreless first half. The first 35 minutes of the second half was much the same way until Testa ended the drought with a goal in the 82nd minute.

With just over a minute left in regulation, Zech knotted the game at 1-1 when she scored her third goal of the season on a double-assist from junior Ashley Vellucci and sophomore Brooke Clippinger.

Each team finished with 13 shots in the second half and one apiece in overtime. A shot from freshman Olivia Snare six minutes into overtime was saved by Lakers goalkeeper Ellie McDougall, allowing Mercyhurst to capitalize under a minute later with Testa's second goal of the day for the game-winner.

Junior goalkeeper Shelbie Rackley made nine saves, the second-most she's had in a game this season. Zech led Shippensburg with five shots while sophomore Mackenzie Neal recorded three.

The Raiders return home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match against Gannon from David See Field. SU will celebrate Senior Day by honoring five players before the game – Cassie Armold, Molly Sanders, Katie Leverentz, Rhonda Runion and Samantha Wood.
