MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team had six players finish with nine or more points on Saturday afternoon and limited home-standing Mansfield to five second-half field goals in a 64-51 over the Mountaineers from Decker Gymnasium.
Shippensburg (7-7, 4-6 PSAC) maintained a one-game advantage in the PSAC East standings over East Stroudsburg by shooting 46 percent from the field – its highest efficiency away from Heiges Field House this season. The Mountaineers, who entered the contest ranked 15th in the PSAC in field-goal percentage defense, fell into a tie for sixth place in the PSAC East with Kutztown.
Senior
Monae Baker led the Raiders with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting. She added five rebounds. Junior
Caitlin Bamberger had a solid first half and finished with 10 points and four rebounds.
Sophomore
Sarah Strybuc was sensational on both ends of the floor, providing outstanding defense in addition to nine points and four rebounds. Strybuc set a career high with five assists and matched her career high of five steals set Wednesday against Bloomsburg.
Junior
Dana Wert contributed 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals while shooting 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. Fellow junior
Shawna Wert added nine points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Sophomore
Raediah Lyles added scoring punch off the bench, finishing one short of her career high in points with nine on 4-of-6 shooting.
Mansfield (5-9, 2-8 PSAC) shot just 17 percent from the field in the second half but stayed in the game with a perfect efficiency from the free-throw line, finishing the game 14-of-14 at the charity stripe. Senior Mallory Moore, the PSAC's leading scorer, led all players with 18 points and was 10-of-10 at the free-throw line. She also added nine rebounds, six steals and four assists.
Shippensburg will travel to West Chester on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. clash from Hollinger Field House.
