Box Score
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team got first-half tallies on Wednesday afternoon from senior Brittany Hibshman and junior Rhonda Runion and limited visiting Shepherd to just one shot on goal in a convincing 2-0 victory over the Rams from David See Field.

Thursday's game was originally to be played at Shepherd before a decision was made late Wednesday to move the contest to Shippensburg. Shepherd's grass field has been beset by the heavy rains affecting the region and the switch to the FieldTurf surface at Shippensburg prevented a postponement of the contest.

Shippensburg (2-1) recorded a 20-4 advantage in shots and totaled five corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeepers Shelbie Rackley and Samantha Wood combined for the shutout – with Rackley earning the win and Wood making a save in the second half.

Hibshman got the Raiders on the board in the 11th minute after Ram goalkeeper Tessa Jones failed to corral a loose ball. The resulting carom was deposited into the back of the net by Hibshman for her first goal of the season and the sixth of her career. Hibshman nearly had another goal in the second half on a shot that slammed off the left post.

In the 30th minute, Runion was in the right place at the right time. Junior Katie Leverentz contested a ball with a Shepherd defender and was able to re-direct a pass off her leg directly into the box, where Runion collected it and ripped it into the back of the net. It was her first goal with the Raiders and the third of her collegiate career.

Shippensburg returns to action at 2 p.m. Saturday when it begins PSAC play against IUP.
