Box Score
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team had several solid scoring chances against No. 4-ranked Mercyhurst on Wednesday evening from David See Field but could not finish its opportunities in a 2-0 loss to the Lakers.

Shippensburg (2-4-1, 1-3-1 PSAC) fell behind in the 28th minute but dominated the opening 10 minutes of the second half and had three outstanding chances to knot the score. Sophomores Logan Kuhn and Andrew Collier both had 1-on-1 matchups with Laker goalkeeper Diego Gustin but each of their attempts went wide of the goal.

Kuhn also had a great angle on a header in the box but was sent to the turf by Gustin and a foul was then whistled on the Raiders.

Later in the half, sophomore Derrick Roy had two point-blank shots on goal in the 88th minute but Gustin made saves on both attempts.

Junior Andrew Foran made his second consecutive start in goal for the Raiders and recorded five saves.

Mercyhurst (8-1, 2-0 PSAC) put away the game in the 84th minute with a low missile from about 30 yards out by two-time all-region forward Billy Colton.

Wednesday's contest was just the second road match and second conference match of the season for the Lakers. Mercyhurst had played its last seven matches at home before Wednesday's match.

Shippensburg heads to Gannon on Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. match with the Golden Knights.
