SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team got a second-half goal from sophomore
Derrick Roy and recorded 25 shots on a sunny Saturday from David See Field but settled for a 1-1 tie with PSAC rival Bloomsburg.
Shippensburg (2-3-1, 1-2-1 PSAC) had 10 corner kicks in the contest and numerous scoring chances but sat behind 1-0 at halftime. Early in the second half, a crisp passing play resulted in SU's strike.
The play began with an excellent effort by freshman Chrissy Black, whose subtle touch of a pass near the midfield went to junior
Ben Weihbrecht. The resulting through ball from Weihbrecht went on a wonderful pace to Roy, who nudged his shot over the drawn-out keeper, off the crossbar and beyond the goal line.
Junior
Andrew Foran made his first appearance in goal this season and performed well. He made two saves in his debut match.
Shippensburg hosts No. 6 Mercyhurst at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday from David See Field.
