SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team fired 15 shots and mustered numerous scoring opportunities Saturday night in a testy PSAC clash with Slippery Rock but ultimately could not find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss to The Rock from David See Field.
Shippensburg (2-2, 1-1 PSAC) had two solid scoring chances in the final 15 minutes but could not capitalize. Sophomore
Andrew Collier was sent free in the 76th minute but sent a shot high over the crossbar. Freshman
Fred Lucas made a spirited run down the far side in the game's final 10 seconds but his thrust toward the net was repelled by Rock goalkeeper Tim White.
Slippery Rock (3-2, 2-1 PSAC) completed a nice passing play in the 59th minute for the game's lone goal. The Rock sophomore Frank Maiolo scored his first career goal off a solid through ball from Christopher Davis.
Junior
Clay Sale made seven saves in the loss.
Shippensburg returns to action Tuesday at 4 p.m. from Millersville.
