LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Dave Osanitsch of Shippensburg University was named the 2011 PSAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year on Thursday morning after voting was conducted by the league's coaches.
Osanitsch, who also this season was named the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Women's Indoor Coach of the Year, earned his second consecutive outdoor coach of the year award at the conference level. SU won its second straight conference championship and also achieved its second consecutive PSAC “Triple Crown.”
Shippensburg won five events – the 400, 1,500, 3K, 5K and 100-meter hurdles – and totaled 34 PSAC placewinning performances to earn a 7.5-point victory over second-place Slippery Rock.
Per the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), Shippensburg totaled 13 performances that were deemed All-Region.
Five Raider athletes competed at the 2011 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Junior
Neely Spence achieved her third consecutive conference championship in the 5,000 meters and junior
Amanda Raudabaugh was a runner-up in the 800 meters. As a result, SU finished in 13th place at nationals.
Shippensburg track & field/cross country finished the season fourth in the 2010-11 USTFCCCA Program of the Year rankings.
