SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. –
The Shippensburg University women's lacrosse team scored four unanswered goals in the second half of Saturday afternoon's matchup with Slippery Rock to temporarily tie the score before a counter-rally by the visitors resulted in SU's 13-10 divisional loss to The Rock.

Shippensburg (3-4, 1-3 PSAC East) allowed the first four goals of the game but fought back to trail by just two goals, 5-3, at halftime. Senior Karen Schnurr matched her season-high with four goals on Saturday and scored two of those in the opening 30 minutes.

Trailing 7-3 in the second half, SU scored four goals in a three-minute span to tie the score. Schnurr began the rally before goals in succession by senior Katie Brewer, sophomore Roxanne Brown and junior Lauren Hauck.

Slippery Rock (4-3, 2-3 PSAC) answered in a flash. Just 27 seconds after SU tied the score, The Rock scored two goals in a 10-second span to take a 9-7 lead. The visitors scored six times in the final 16 minutes 30 seconds to take control of the game.

Defensively, junior Meghan Kearney made 11 saves.

Shippensburg will hit the road Tuesday at 4 p.m. to face Kutztown.
