SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg women's basketball team got a near double-double on Wednesday night from senior 
Kasey Gardner and a combined 23 points from sophomores 
Dana Wert and 
Shawna Wert but could not sweep the season series against PSAC East leading Bloomsburg, dropping a 65-55 decision to the Huskies from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (9-12, 4-5 PSAC East) was within five points of the lead on multiple occasions in the second half but could not complete a comeback from its 15-point deficit sustained during the first half. The team predominantly returned to form at the free-throw line in Wednesday's contest, converting 19-of-25 attempts (76 percent). 
Bloomsburg (16-5, 8-1 PSAC East) was paced by 19 points from Dana Wieller and shot 70 percent from the free-throw line, making 21-of-30 attempts. The Huskies went into the intermission with a 36-24 lead – using solid passing to build their advantage. The visitors had assists on all 10 of their first-half buckets. 
Gardner had nine points and 10 rebounds, marking the fifth time this season she has recorded double-digit rebounds and the first time she has done so in conference play. 
Shawna Wert had 12 points and five rebounds, while 
Dana Wert contributed five rebounds and four assists. All 11 of Dana's points came in the second half. 
Junior 
Monae Baker had seven points but was shutout from the field in the second half.  Freshman 
Sarah Strybuc came off the bench and delivered seven points with three assists.
Shippensburg will host Cheyney at 1 p.m. Saturday from Heiges Field House. SU will be holding its annual Pink Zone game on Saturday, and all fans wearing pink will receive free admission to the game. All students attending the game are encouraged to dress in pink. Pink ribbons will be provided to all fans. 
The team will also hold its annual alumni game at 10 a.m. Saturday.
