SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Despite four starters scoring in double figures on Sunday afternoon, the Shippensburg University women's basketball team was unable to pull out a back-and-forth battle with PSAC foe Indiana (Pa.), losing 78-73 from Heiges Field House for the Raiders' first loss of the season.

Junior Dana Wert led Shippensburg (3-1, 1-1 PSAC) with a SU career-high 20 points that included six three pointers in 10 attempts. The Raiders shot well from long range all game, finishing 12-of-24 as a team. The 12 trifectas were the most in a single game for SU in two seasons, as it knocked down 14 in an overtime loss to West Chester on Feb. 24, 2010.

Dana Wert's twin sister, junior Shawna Wert, had her fourth consecutive double-figure scoring game to start the season, as she went 3-of-6 from long distance to finish with 11 points as well as a team-high eight assists. The Wert twins each played all 40 minutes in the loss.

The Raiders received efficient performances from their post players as well, as junior Caitlin Bamberger finished with her third double-double this season in scoring 10 points and collecting 10 rebounds. Senior Monae Baker had another strong game, going 7-of-14 from the field to finish with 16 points and eight boards.

The only Shippensburg starter not to score in double figures was senior Erin Varley, who scored eight points on 3-of-7 shooting, including two big three-pointers on back-to-back possessions in the second half that closed the Crimson Hawks (3-0, 2-0) lead from 11 to five nearly four minutes into the period.

From there, the game remained a back-and-forth battle, with eight lead changes between 14:13 and 6:57 of play. At that point, IUP's Vianca Tejada drained a three-pointer that gave the Crimson Hawks a three-point lead that they would not relinquish. The bucket was one of nine from beyond the arc for IUP in its 14 attempts on the game.

The Raiders have over a week off before hosting Virginia State at 6 p.m. on Nov. 29.
