SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – In its season opener on Saturday evening, the Shippensburg University women's basketball team defeated Saint Michael's, 85-76, from Heiges Field House and advanced to Sunday's championship game of the 2011 Wolf's Bus Lines Tournament.

Senior Monae Baker led the Raiders (1-0) with 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting and fell one rebound short of registering a double-double.

Junior Caitlin Bamberger earned a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 10 boards off the bench, while junior Shawna Wert was 9-of-10 from the free throw line and finished with 16 points. Her twin sister, junior Dana Wert led Shippensburg with six assists while also adding eight points.

SU will square off with Chowan at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
