Shippensburg University to Host 2011 PSAC Field Hockey Championship Game Monday at 6 PM

Matchup features the top two teams in the nation: Bloomsburg and Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University will host the 2011 PSAC Field Hockey Championship game at 6 p.m. Monday from Robb Sports Complex. Tickets will be $7 for adults and $2 for students, while any student that attends a PSAC member institution can receive free admission with proper identification.

Shippensburg was chosen as the host institution during the offseason after a vote by the league coaches. A pre-determined site was arranged to accommodate the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN), who will stream the championship game live on www.pcntv.com and then air it on tape delay on television at 8:30 p.m.

Shippensburg vs. Bloomsburg In PSAC Tournament
• The Raiders and the Huskies are bitter rivals, especially when it comes to the PSAC Tournament.
•  Saturday marks the fifth time in nine years that the teams have met in the PSAC Championship Game.
•  The last came in 2009, when the Huskies defeated SU 2-1 in overtime from Robb Sports Complex.
•  Shippensburg's only win in this time span was in 2005 with a 5-4 win at Robb Sports Complex.
•  Shippensburg has qualified for the PSAC Tournament in 11 consecutive seasons.

Shippensburg's Recent PSAC West Dominance
• Since being shifted to the PSAC Western Division at the start of the 2008 season, SU has outscored its opponents by a 128-22 margin while recording 16 shutouts. During the winning streak, SU's scoring margin against PSAC West opponents is 109-16.
• Shippensburg has only allowed multiple goals three times during its active Western Division winning streak, and two of those occasions occurred back in 2008.

Kristina Taylor
• Taylor leads the nation with 23 goals scored this season, including tallies in four of the last five games. She also entered the week ranked fourth in the nation in points per game.
• She is one goal short of matching her single-season career high of 24 set as a sophomore.
• Taylor has 186 career points and is the active Division II leader. She is 10th all time in Division II.
• Taylor has 80 career goals and is the active Division II leader. She is 11th all time in Division II.

Shippensburg's National Rankings
• Shippensburg entered the week leading DII in scoring margin (3.94) and penalty corners (14.11).
• Shippensburg entered the week ranked second in DII for scoring average (4.61), goals-against average (0.67, assists per game (3.44) and points per game (12.67).

Random Facts
• Since the start of the 2009 season, Shippensburg has posted a 58-7 record.
• Since a 3-2 loss at Millersville on September 10, SU has won 15 straight games.
• Shippensburg has won 20 consecutive games at home, including 10 in 2011.
• Shippensburg's last loss at home was in the '09 PSAC championship game to Bloomsburg.
