CHEYNEY, Pa. — The Shippensburg University football team continues a three-game PSAC Eastern Division road trip at 1 p.m. Saturday from O'Shields-Stevenson Stadium with a matchup against the Wolves of Cheyney University. Shippensburg has won all 12 career meetings between the two teams.

Live radio coverage of the game will be provided by Shippensburg University radio (http://www.wsyc.org) and Cheyney University at www.redzonemedia.com.

Shippensburg has scored 226 points through the first seven games of the season. This year's group of Red Raiders is one of just 12 teams in school history to amass 200 or more points in the first seven games of a season.

Through seven games in a season, SU's total is tied for the seventh-best in school history along with the 2004 team. The most points in the first seven games of a season is 266, set by the historic 1952 team of Vinton Rambo that finished the season 7-0 and outscored the opposition 266-20.

The Red Raiders set a school record in its Week 3 win over Clarion with 33 first downs – 15 by rushing, 13 by passing and five by penalty. Shippensburg ran the ball on 34 of its 44 first-down plays and totaled an incredible 272 yards on first-down runs.

Shippensburg nearly matched its new record two weeks ago against West Chester with 32 first downs. Just last week, the Red Raiders had 25 first downs at No. 3 Bloomsburg — the most allowed by the Huskies this season.

SU is running a ton of plays: 579 through the first seven games. The Red Raiders ran an incredible 101 plays in the Week 6 loss to West Chester — the second-most in a game in school history — and also ran 91 plays in the Week 2 victory over Gannon and the Week 5 victory over No. 12 Kutztown. The latter now stands as the fourth-most in a single game.

After being held without a sack in the season opener at Shepherd, Shippensburg has totaled 24 sacks in the last six games to rank second in the PSAC behind C.W. Post (28). The Red Raiders had seven sacks in its Week 3 win over Clarion – its most in one contest since recording eight against Lock Haven on Sept. 30, 2000.

As a team, Shippensburg now leads the PSAC in first downs (180) while ranking third in the conference for scoring offense (32.6 points per game), total offense (450.3 yards per game) and passing offense (286.0 yards per game).

Cheyney snapped a 32-game losing streak last season when it defeated Millersville, 20-17. The Wolves opened the season with a 21-19 victory over Lincoln but has lost its other games this season.

Shippensburg was picked sixth in the PSAC Eastern Division coaches poll. Cheyney was picked last in the same poll.

SERIES HISTORY: Shippensburg vs. Cheyney

Shippensburg holds a 12-0 lead in the all-time series with Cheyney. Since moving into the PSAC Eastern Division in 2008, SU has won all three meetings by a combined 143-17 margin. The only road meeting of the three years was a muddy 31-10 victory in 2009 that clinched a PSAC Eastern Division championship.

The Red Raiders have never allowed more than 13 points to Cheyney in history. The most lopsided margin of victory was a 68-0 in 1954 under legendary coach Vinton Rambo. SU has shutout the Wolves three times - with last year's 50-0 victory being the last time Shippensburg has recorded a shutout.

SU is 5-0 at Cheyney in its history but has only played at O'Shields-Stevenson Stadium once in the last 22 years. Cheyney is the only school in the PSAC that boasts a natural-grass playing surface.
