BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University football team begins a three-game PSAC Eastern Division road trip at 1 p.m. Saturday from Redman Stadium with a matchup against the Huskies of No. 3 Bloomsburg. The teams have split the last two meetings but Bloomsburg has won four of the last five overall.

Live radio coverage of the game will be provided by Bloomsburg radio station WHLM (930 AM) with Jim Doyle and Andy Ulicny calling the action. The radio feed can also be accessed online at whlm.com. The Bloomsburg University sports information office will also be offering live statistics.

A student-radio broadcast of the game will be available on 88.7 FM in Shippensburg and can be accessed online at www.wsyc.org. Student broadcasters Chris Field and Trey Kemble will call the action on the radio.

Shippensburg has scored 208 points through the first six games of the season. This year's Red Raiders are one of just five teams in school history to amass 200 or more points over that span. The 1999 team scored 231 points, the 1953 team scored 227 points, the 2009 team scored 221 points and the 1952 team scored 220 points.

The Red Raiders set a school record in its Week 3 win over Clarion with 33 first downs – 15 by rushing, 13 by passing and five by penalty. Shippensburg ran the ball on 34 of its 44 first-down plays and totaled an incredible 272 yards on first-down runs. SU nearly matched that record one week ago against West Chester with 32 first downs.

SU is running a ton of plays: 491 through the first six games. The Red Raiders ran an incredible 101 plays in Saturday's loss to West Chester — the second-most in a game in school history — and also ran 91 plays in the Week 2 victory over Gannon and the Week 5 victory over No. 12 Kutztown. The latter now stands as the fourth-most in a single game.

After being held without a sack in the season opener at Shepherd, Shippensburg has totaled 22 sacks in the last five games to rank second in the PSAC behind C.W. Post (27). The Red Raiders had seven sacks in its Week 3 win over Clarion – its most in one contest since recording eight against Lock Haven on Sept. 30, 2000.

Saturday's game is the second consecutive meeting between the two teams from Redman Stadium in which Bloomsburg has been ranked No. 3 in the country. In 2009, Shippensburg completed a 28-27 come-from-behind victory that ultimately propelled the Red Raiders into the State Game. An 11-yard touchdown pass from redshirt senior quarterback Chad DiFebbo to redshirt junior Chase DiFebbo with 46 seconds to play culminated a 15-play, 79-yard drive that included three fourth-down conversions.

As a team, Shippensburg now ranks second in first downs (155), third in the PSAC for scoring offense (35.0 points per game), fourth in total offense (448.3 yards per game).

Bloomsburg was ranked at No. 2 in the country last week before swapping spots with Delta State despite the Huskies annihilating Cheyney. Among the impressive Husky victories are wins over Ashland and IUP.

Shippensburg was picked sixth in the PSAC Eastern Division coaches poll. Bloomsburg was picked atop the same poll.

SERIES HISTORY: Shippensburg vs. Bloomsburg
Shippensburg holds a 41-31-1 lead in the series but have won just 15 of 35 meetings on the road. The Red Raiders have lost the last three meetings between the teams, last earning a 48-10 victory in 2004 at Seth Grove Stadium.

The teams did not play in 2007, marking the first time the two teams have not played against each other in the regular season since 1971. The regional rivals have met 72 times since the 1917 season.
