SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Seven different Lady Raiders scored at least six points on Thursday night from Heiges Field House but the Shippensburg women's basketball team could not establish consistent rhythm in a 79-61 loss to visiting West Chester, a squad ranked No. 8 in the regional rankings.

Shippensburg (8-9, 3-2 PSAC East) trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half but got within eight points of the lead at intermission. The visitors got out of the gate quickly to start the second half and led by as many as 17 points in the final frame, but SU was within just six points of the lead with 6:24 to play.

Junior Monae Baker led SU with 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Senior Kasey Gardner had 12 points and eight rebounds. She moved into seventh place on SU's all-time points list, passing current assistant coach Jen Grassel.

Sophomore guard Dana Wert had eight points and four assists. She was 5-of-6 at the free-throw line, ending her streak of consecutively made free throws at 30. Junior Lindsay Howard added eight points, making 4-of-6 attempts from the charity stripe.

SU never got any rhythm going beyond the arc, missing all nine of its three-point attempts in the second half and finishing the game 3-of-17 from long distance. The team made 75 percent of its free-throw attempts (18-of-24).

West Chester (13-4, 4-1 PSAC East) got all five of its starters into double figures when Alex Lennon drove to the hoop for a lay-up with just 10 seconds left on the clock and her team in possession of a 16-point lead. Mary Kate Serratelli led all scorers with 20 points, while Allison Hostetter had 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Shippensburg will travel Saturday to East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. tip-off with the Warriors.
